Sem plateia e em sua primeira edição virtual, o Emmy 2020, principal premiação da televisão estadunidense, premiou os melhores seriados e minisséries na noite deste domingo, 20. Com sete vitórias nas sete categorias que concorria, a sitcom “Schitt's Creek” foi a grande vencedora da 72ª edição, desbancando comédias como “Marvelous Mrs Maisel” e “The Good Place” e levando o prêmio em todas as categorias de comédia.
A atriz Zendaya foi outro destaque da noite, sendo a atriz mais nova e levar a estatueta de Melhor Atriz em Série Dramática, com 24 anos, por seu papel em “Euphoria”, passando Olivia Colman, por ‘The Crown” e Jennifer Aniston por “The Morning Show”. A artista também é a segunda mulher negra a conseguir o feito em 72 anos de premiação, depois de Viola Davis, que levou a estatueta em 2015 por seu papel no seriado “How to get away with a murdered”.
A minissérie “Watchmen”, baseada em HQ da DC Comics, foi a recordista do ano em indicações, concorrendo contra si mesma em indicações de atuação. A série ganhou quatro estatuetas, inclusive a de Melhor Minissérie, empatando em segundo lugar com o seriado de drama “Succession”, que ganhou quatro prêmios, incluindo o de Melhor Série de Drama, um dos principais da noite.
Isolamento
Sem plateia nem entrega presencial, a premiação aconteceu de forma “virtual”. Entre as poucas pessoas presentes na noite no Staples Center, em Los Angeles, estavam o apresentador da noite, o comediante Jimmy Kimmel, e alguns convidados.
Para o feito, as equipes de filmagem do Emmy estiveram em 114 locais de dez países diferentes para acompanhar os 138 artistas da premiação. Grande parte dos vencedores tiveram, assim, que receber a estatueta de forma remota.
